From Texas to Quebec: Uni-Draulik and Uni-Drill Join MARCOTTE
Uni-Draulik and Uni-Drill Back Under Quebec Ownership
Established in 2003 in Quebec City, Uni-Draulik has become a leader in the fields of hydraulic and electro-hydraulic engineering. Uni-Drill, founded in Val-d’Or in 2015, specializes in manufacturing diamond drilling equipment. It has collaborated closely with Uni-Draulik since its inception. The two companies were acquired by Singer Industrial, a Texas-based distributor, in 2023.
MARCOTTE now owns 55% of both companies, while Mathieu Dubé-Vaillancourt owns 45% and continues to lead them. The combined group employs 95 people across Val-d’Or, Quebec City, and East Angus.
This development occurs during a period of ongoing expansion in Quebec’s mining industry. As local control over supply chains becomes increasingly strategic, MARCOTTE is poised to play a pivotal role, providing a comprehensive suite of drilling rigs for mining and geotechnical operations in Quebec, Canada, and globally.
This choice demonstrates an unwavering dedication to maximizing the potential of the team, client base, and specialized knowledge in Quebec, with decisions being taken in Val-d’Or and Quebec City rather than in Dallas.
Continuity Assured
All three companies will maintain their identities, workforces, and customer relationships. No modifications are in store for current employees. Recruitment is already underway at Uni-Drill and Uni-Draulik, with at least ten new job openings anticipated in the next twelve months.
An Expanded Offering
The acquisition generates a unique synergy in the industrial sector. Uni-Draulik’s hydraulic and electro-hydraulic engineering expertise will now be leveraged across MARCOTTE’s entire range of drilling rigs, while MARCOTTE’s expertise in machining, welding, and manufacturing will be put to use at Uni-Drill. All three companies’ customers will now have access to an extensive collection of drilling rigs, including underground, stationary, and mobile options, as well as MARCOTTE’s renowned surface drilling rigs.
Uni-Draulik also brings a new dimension to MARCOTTE’s distribution: access to a network of hydraulic system components and automation control systems. This benefits both customers and suppliers, as it eliminates the need for multiple intermediaries and reduces lead times for obtaining the necessary parts for maintenance and repair.
A Complete Service, 100% Quebec-Based
MARCOTTE, Uni-Draulik, and Uni-Drill have combined their expertise in drilling, manufacturing, and hydraulics to provide a comprehensive, entirely Quebec-based service to customers and suppliers. This innovative offering sets a new standard in the industry, and MARCOTTE is particularly proud to be at the forefront of this exciting development.
